Serious Crimes Increased, Corruption-Related Crimes Decreased: Statistics
In Armenia, serious crimes have increased by 30%. According to the National Statistical Service, a total of 18,865 crimes were registered from January to September 2019. In the same period last year, there were 17,673 crimes. Statistics show that this year, particularly serious crimes have surged by more than 30%. In the first nine months, there have been 36 murders and 24 attempted murders.
This year, incidents of hooliganism involving the use of firearms have increased by approximately 50% in the republic. There has also been a rise in crimes against property, specifically in personal property theft. Compared to last year, corruption-related crimes have decreased by more than 20%.
