On November 15, a new rise in water levels is expected in Venice. This was announced by the city authorities.
"It is anticipated that the water level will reach 160 cm," the statement reads.
The Italian government declared a state of emergency on November 14 due to severe flooding. Venice Mayor Luigi Brugnaro urged residents and tourists not to go out into the streets unless absolutely necessary. Schools in 30 cities are also closed.
Many museums, including the Doge's Palace located in St. Mark's Square, have been submerged.
Poor weather forecasts and snowfall are also anticipated in Piedmont, Lombardy, Veneto, and Trentino-Alto Adige regions.
