This Year's Births Exceed Last Year's Figures, Prime Minister Says
During the second and third quarters of this year, the number of births in Armenia has surpassed the figures recorded in the same period last year. This was reported by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on his Facebook page, adding that while 18,258 children were born during that timeframe last year, the number of births in the second and third quarters of this year has reached 18,493, which is an increase of 235.
“The growth in the number of births is certainly not significant, but it should be noted that for at least the last five years, this figure had been declining, as is clearly evident from the analysis of the provided graph. Thus, we can state that after the revolution, positive expectations for the future in Armenian families have increased, and it took time for these expectations to manifest as a rise in the number of newborns. Additionally, since the revolution, there has been a continued increase in the number of marriages and a decrease in the number of divorces,” the Prime Minister wrote.
