Drivers Refuse Service to Citizen with Disability; Municipality Issues Warning
The spokesperson for the Yerevan Mayor, Hakob Karapetyan, wrote on his Facebook page: "The day before yesterday, user Artak Davtyan reported that the drivers of three minibuses serving the intra-city Route 30 did not stop at the bus stop and refused to serve him, allegedly upon noticing that he has a disability and uses a walker to move.
The transport department of the Yerevan municipality responded to the incident. As a result of the investigation, the company serving the route has issued a strict reprimand to the offending drivers, with a final warning.
Addressing the comments regarding the overall poor state of transportation and driver issues, I would like to emphasize that having serious problems in transportation does not mean that any discrimination is acceptable in public transport."
