Everyone Measures Others with Their Own Yardstick: Abrahamyan on Kocharian's Lawyer
The advisor to the Prosecutor General of Armenia, Gohar Abrahamyan, has addressed a comment made by lawyer Ruben Sahakyan, the defender of Robert Kocharian, regarding Prosecutor General Arthur Davtyan's "general's position" on his Facebook page.
"During a press briefing with journalists today, lawyer Ruben Sahakyan showcased yet another 'master class' on legal incompetence, lavishly delivering absurd assertions about the merits of Prosecutor General Arthur Davtyan and the awarding of the title of a second-class state advisor in the field of justice. Like a weak 'professional' unable to gracefully accept defeat in a legal process, he opted to reduce a purely legal, professional debate to a level of personal characterizations, thereby concealing his apparent ignorance of the basic legal regulations regarding the issues he touched upon.
Otherwise, a self-respecting lawyer would have opened the 'Law on the Prosecutor's Office' before making a public statement and first worked to understand how the legal relationships regarding the granting of ranks are regulated in the case of the Prosecutor General of Armenia.
If the 'experienced' lawyer had performed this elementary homework, which is akin to an assignment for a first-year law student, he would have understood that, in this instance, the elevation of the Prosecutor General’s rank is a direct requirement of the law.
At the same time, it is absolutely not surprising that a person who has molded their professional biography around the perception of law as a service commodity might accuse the Prosecutor General of providing services. As the saying goes, 'everyone measures others with their own yardstick,'" wrote the advisor to the Prosecutor General.
It should be noted that the Prosecutor General was awarded the title of a third-class state advisor in justice in July of this year, followed by the rank of a second-class state advisor, which is equivalent to the military title of lieutenant general.
