Trump Lifts Sanctions Against Turkey
The United States is lifting sanctions against Turkey that were imposed due to Ankara's military operations in Syria, reports BBC.
U.S. President Donald Trump made this decision following a meeting between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin. During the negotiations, Russia agreed to deploy troops along the Turkey-Syria border.
According to Trump, Turkey has assured that it will halt its military operations and establish a permanent ceasefire. Trump also stated that a small number of American soldiers will remain in Syria to protect oil fields.
