VIDEO: 55 Elephants Die from Hunger and Drought in South Africa

In the Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe, South Africa, at least 55 elephants have died in the last two months due to hunger and severe drought, Aljazeera.com reports.

"The situation is terrible. The elephants are dying from starvation, and this is a significant problem. The national park does not receive government funding and can accommodate a maximum of 15,000 elephants, but the actual number is much higher—around 50,000. In the current situation, the animals are leaving the area in search of food and water," stated a representative of Zimbabwe's national park.
