Georg Kostanyan Promises to Appear at the Special Investigation Service Next Month, Khachatryan
Georg Kostanyan has promised to appear at the Special Investigation Service at the beginning of next month. This was announced today, October 21, by the head of the SIS, Sasun Khachatryan, who noted that he has no further information to provide.
Earlier, it was reported that former MP from the Republican Party and former Prosecutor General Georg Kostanyan has been summoned to the SIS regarding the March 1 case. His current status remains unclear.
It is worth recalling that former police chief Alik Sargsyan has been charged with abuse of official powers, forgery, and concealment of a crime. According to the allegations, following the events in Yerevan on March 1 and 2, 2008, the government’s authorized representative at the European Court of Human Rights, Georg Kostanyan, and the deputy chief of police, Georg Mheryan, demanded the retroactive creation and circulation of documents justifying the legality of the police actions conducted on March 1 and 2.
