Hrayer Tovmasyan's Legal Team Responds to NSS Statement

The legal team of the President of the Constitutional Court, Hrayer Tovmasyan, expresses its surprise regarding the content of the statement disseminated today by the National Security Service of Armenia. This was conveyed to Tert.am by lawyer Amram Makinyan.

“Firstly, the actions of the head of the division are perplexing and at least questionable in terms of legality, as they bypass the established protocols for establishing 'direct communication' and violate the rules regarding procedural seniority that have been developed over the years in the state system. As for the actions of the division's head regarding the scheduling of the day and time to receive explanations from family members of the President of the Constitutional Court, this was coordinated solely with the representatives of the legal team. Therefore, under such circumstances, the dissemination of another statement regarding actions with questionable legal origin serves only one purpose: to manipulatively cast a shadow on the ongoing political persecution, giving it a formal appearance of legal proceedings,” Makinyan conveyed on behalf of the President of the Constitutional Court's legal team.
