Cause of Student Illness at Artashat School Revealed by Health Ministry

The Ministry of Health has received information indicating that, based on preliminary data, 14 children from Artashat School No. 5 have been hospitalized at the Artashat Medical Center due to symptoms of nausea and weakness. This was reported by the Armenian Ministry of Health.

Measures were taken on the spot, which revealed that the children had consumed pizza made with sausage.

Samples were taken from the children for laboratory investigations, as well as samples from the school kitchen and leftover pizza. Concurrently, investigations are underway by the Food Safety Inspection Body regarding the incident.

The sale of pizza at the school has been suspended.

Currently, the children are receiving appropriate medical assistance, with complaints of weakness and nausea. Specialists from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention are working at the school to identify any other children with similar complaints. Additional information will be provided.
