Come Out, Apér: A Council Member from BHK Challenges ‘My Step’

During today’s session of the Yerevan City Council, an incident occurred between members of the 'My Step' and BHK factions.

BHK council member Armen Nersisyan stood up during the session and addressed Vazgen Darbinyan from 'My Step', saying, “Come out, Apér.”

Nersisyan called Darbinyan out because he felt he was being stared at for too long. BHK members, speaking to reporters, commented that there was nothing wrong with Nersisyan’s behavior; it was simply an invitation to discuss.

Later during the session, 'My Step' member Lilit Kirakosyan suggested the establishment of an ethics council. “As today’s session and all sessions have shown, I see a need and suggest creating an ethics council, similar to what we have in the National Assembly. It will oversee both Facebook posts and expressions like ‘come out, Apér, let’s talk’,” stated Kirakosyan.

The Mayor, Hayk Marutyan, noted that it was an interesting proposal. “I like this suggestion. I think we will look into it,” he said.

Later, in a discussion with reporters, the BHK legislator stated that he has no scores to settle with anyone, adding that he addressed the ‘My Step’ member as “Apér.”

“I have no scores to settle with anyone, nor do I intend to. There’s no animosity; I got angry when I noticed that I was being looked at for too long. Such incidents happen regularly, and you also make similar remarks,” he told reporters.
