“I have no information on how the 124 million drams allocated for celebrating 'Citizen's Day' will be spent; that is decided by the executive,” said Alen Simonyan, the Vice Speaker of the National Assembly, during a conversation with reporters in the NA.

“In any case, today is an important day for me, as it marks the day when Sasun Mikayelyan, Ararat Mirzoyan, and Nikol Pashinyan were arrested. I stayed with the people alone alongside a few friends, and we needed to maintain that stance. From this day forward, every day is a celebration until more significant and important events occur,” the Vice Speaker added.

In response to comments that many believe the money could have been spent on various social initiatives, Simonyan replied, “This is not just another celebration; it marks a very important event. It concerns the elevation of the citizen's role, who will determine everything in Armenia moving forward. Not celebrating this day would be a mistake. It is not about buying a balloon for 124 million drams; it is about discussions, raising civil awareness further, and developing this phenomenon that will lead Armenia to greater victories.”
