Is the Instruction Given with a Nod? Pashinyan on the Points System for Traffic Violations
The legislative initiative regarding the points system for traffic rule violations is being developed. This was announced by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a live broadcast on Facebook.
He noted that there are legislative initiatives that have been discussed, but none have been adopted as law in the past ten months. He acknowledges that this could be subject to criticism but points out that in international practice, significant laws are not adopted hastily. “Work is underway regarding the points system, and according to the information provided to me, the package will be sent to the National Assembly within the next month,” said Pashinyan.
“People say that I have not given an instruction, but if I am making a statement about the necessity of this mechanism in a government meeting, isn't that sufficient? How else is an instruction given?”
He added, “This is our shortcoming, but again, I am saying that if I announce this in a government meeting, the relevant bodies of the police should have noted that this was an instruction. And I am now giving instructions live. You have already delayed for ten months and have not fulfilled this instruction,” concluded Nikol Pashinyan.
