If There Are Grounds, the Official Duties Will Be Temporarily Suspended: Davtyan on Sanasarian

Today, during a conversation with reporters, Armenia's Attorney General Arthur Davtyan neither confirmed nor denied the circulating news regarding the involvement of David Sanasarian, head of the State Revenue Committee, as a suspect in the case concerning State Oversight Service employees.

“The investigation is ongoing, and naturally, all hypotheses are being verified. Allow me to refrain from providing a direct answer to your question at this moment, promising that more comprehensive information will be provided in the near future. I believe you will approach this with understanding since the interests of the investigation demand it,” said Davtyan, adding that considering the sensitivity and importance of the case, the public will not be kept waiting for essential information.

When asked whether it is possible for the prosecutor’s office to temporarily suspend the official powers of David Sanasarian until the investigation is concluded, the Attorney General responded, “I will answer the question theoretically. In cases where a public servant is subjected to criminal prosecution and there are grounds to believe that continuing to hold office may obstruct the investigation, the prosecutor decides to temporarily suspend the official duties.”

It should be noted that yesterday, information was circulated in the media stating that David Sanasarian has been involved as a suspect in the criminal case concerning State Oversight Service employees. In response, Sanasarian made a post on his Facebook page stating, “There is actually something to worry about, but it does not concern me.”
