David Babayan: I Do Not Believe That Armenian Leadership Can Make Artsakh's Fate Uncertain
We welcome that the new Armenian authorities are talking more about returning Artsakh to the negotiation table. This was stated by David Babayan, the spokesperson for Artsakh President Bako Sahakyan, on his Facebook page.
In the post, he mentioned:
“But we have said from day one that, yes, this viewpoint is welcome, but it is a complex process that requires work and time. Considering that Azerbaijan will never agree to restoring the full format and will do everything to prevent it, this does not mean we should give up on this process. Therefore, we welcome any meeting between the leadership of Armenia and Azerbaijan, as we see it as a continuation of the negotiation process and a means to maintain stability and peace in the region.”
“And I do not believe that Armenia and its leadership can take steps regarding Artsakh that would make our fate uncertain, because that would mean suicide for the Armenian statehood as well. We should never fear or worry that something can be imposed upon us; this can only happen if we pursue the wrong foreign policy, if the Armenian community is divided, or if the Armenia-Artsakh-Diaspora triad is not strong, or if our armyWeakens.”
