The United States has deployed 14 C-17 Globemaster transport aircraft and two heavily armed AC-130J Ghostrider helicopters to Royal Air Force bases in the United Kingdom, according to the Times. The UK Ministry of Defence has declined to comment.
"Since Saturday, at least 14 C-17 Globemaster transport aircraft and two heavily armed AC-130J Ghostrider helicopters have landed at three Royal Air Force bases in Suffolk and Gloucestershire," the paper reported.
According to the report, the Globemasters may have transported at least five MH-60M Black Hawk helicopters and one MH-47G Chinook, which are used for special operations. The Times notes that the bases where the aircraft have arrived are jointly used by the Royal Air Force and the U.S. Air Force.
