Nikol Pashinyan Meets with the Pope of Rome to Discuss Regional Issues
During his visit to the Holy See, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with His Holiness Pope Leo XIV. This was reported by the Armenian government.
His Holiness welcomed Prime Minister Pashinyan's visit to the Vatican and his participation in the canonization ceremony of Archbishop Ignatius Maloyan and six other Beatified figures. He emphasized the established close relations between the Holy See and Armenia, particularly highlighting the role of the Mekhitarist Congregation of Venice in deepening these ties.
Prime Minister Pashinyan once again congratulated His Holiness on being elected as the Armenian Patriarch of Rome, wishing him strength and success on the challenging and responsible path of fulfilling his sacred mission. He expressed confidence that under the leadership of Pope Leo XIV, the tradition of close dialogue between the Holy See and Armenia would continue, as well as the ongoing attention to important issues for Armenia.
The meeting also addressed regional issues. The interlocutors discussed the establishment of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as humanitarian concerns. His Holiness congratulated on the progress made in this direction and expressed hope that the establishment of peace in the region will herald a new phase of cooperation and stability.
Prime Minister Pashinyan reaffirmed the Armenian Government's commitment to the peace agenda for the prosperity and sustainable development of Armenia and the region.
