US National Guard Troops to Be Deployed in Various States for Round-the-Clock Monitoring
Approximately 1,700 troops from the US National Guard will be deployed across 19 states to combat illegal immigration and crime, according to a report from Fox News citing Pentagon sources.
The largest number of National Guard members will be sent to Texas. In addition, they will be stationed in Idaho, Iowa, Alabama, Arkansas, Wyoming, Virginia, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio, Tennessee, Florida, South Dakota, South Carolina, and Utah.
Authorities expect that by mid-November, National Guard members will provide logistical support to the Department of Homeland Security, assisting in processing cases of arrested illegal immigrants and data collection.
A spokesperson for the US Department of Defense declined to disclose further details about the upcoming operations against crime in the country but assured that the Pentagon “continues to collaborate with other departments to protect federal property.”
It is worth noting that US President Donald Trump had previously announced the deployment of National Guard troops in Washington to combat crime.
