What Was the Cause of Today's Traffic Jams: Commentary from the City Hall
The situation that developed today on Myasnikyan Avenue was caused by three traffic accidents. This information was provided to Sputnik Armenia by the press service of the Yerevan City Hall.
"The situation that developed today on Myasnikyan Avenue is due to three traffic accidents. Even in the case of one accident, we experience a collapse if the police services do not act quickly," the department mentioned.
Additionally, due to changes in traffic organization, issues have arisen in the section from Myasnikyan Avenue to Heratsi Street. Previously, right turns were allowed from Myasnikyan to Heratsi, but this is no longer permitted.
"To enhance traffic efficiency, we have closed the right-turn direction, and flows must descend onto Heratsi Street. However, many drivers continue to turn right, ignoring the prohibitory sign, which further complicates traffic movement," the department informed the media.
It was emphasized that in the case of a road accident, oversight is not within the jurisdiction of the city hall, but rather under the responsibility of the Patrol Service of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Regarding periodic traffic jams, the Yerevan City Hall stated that they can only specify the cause for today’s situation, as each day has its own analysis.
It is worth noting that since early morning, many citizens have reported on social networks that there are impassable traffic jams in Yerevan's Avan and Nor Nork administrative districts.
