VIDEO: Macron Leaves EU Summit and Returns to France Urgently
The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, has left the EU summit taking place in Brussels to participate in a government meeting concerning the situation in the country. This information was reported by RIA Novosti, referencing Western media.
"Macron has left the European Council, his press conference has been canceled. He is awaited in Paris, where he will head a meeting of the inter-ministerial crisis group," the report stated.
Earlier, Olivier Klein, a delegate from the French Minister of Housing, announced during a broadcast on BFM TV that a state of emergency may be declared in the country due to the unrest.
It is worth noting that on the morning of June 27, police killed a 17-year-old teenager in Nantes, a suburb west of Paris, during a check when he allegedly refused to comply with their demands. Following this incident, riots erupted in several cities across France and have been ongoing for several days. The number of detained protesters has reached more than 667.
