112 People Die from Abnormal Heat in Mexico
According to local media reports, the number of heat-related deaths in Mexico has reached 112 over the past few weeks. Doctors note that mortality is rapidly increasing against the backdrop of record high temperatures, particularly in the northwestern and southeastern parts of the country.
The highest number of fatalities has been reported in Nuevo León and Tamaulipas, with 64 and 19 deaths respectively, followed by Veracruz with 15 and Tabasco with 14. The country’s health department has stated that the deceased are, on average, aged between 45 and 64 years. A total of 104 people died from direct heatstroke.
