Putin and Prigozhin on the New Charlie Hebdo Cover
“Will these two scoundrels ruin our holiday?” Putin and Prigozhin on the new Charlie Hebdo cover.
Recall that on Saturday night, the fighters of the Wagner private military company captured the headquarters of the Southern Military District in Rostov-on-Don. This happened against the backdrop of Yevgeny Prigozhin's statements that the Russian Armed Forces had allegedly delivered rocket strikes on the Wagner camps.
Russian President Vladimir Putin referred to the actions of the rebels as a “criminal adventure,” a “knife in the back of Russia,” and “treason.” Later, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko conducted negotiations with Prigozhin, agreed upon with Putin, after which Lukashenko’s press service reported that the head of the company had accepted Lukashenko’s proposal to halt the Wagner movement in Russia and take further steps for de-escalation.
Russia’s presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that Prigozhin would go to Belarus, and the criminal case would be dropped. The Kremlin has said that the guarantee for this is the word of the President of Russia.
