Mané Tandilyan Who Freed Boys From Military Service Wants to Become Mayor of Yerevan

The newspaper “Zhoghovurd” reports that they have information that Mané Tandilyan will lead the city council list of the "Living Country" party. She has already begun to form a campaign team and prepare for the upcoming elections.

Of course, any political force has the right to organize its own campaign. However, it is at least strange that those who promised to remain in Artsakh and bring prosperity to the region are aligned with people, such as Ruben Vardanyan's political team, whose past and present do not, to put it mildly, comply with those principles. A vivid example is Mané Tandilyan. Not long ago, she held the position of Minister of Social Welfare of Artsakh and did not cease to call for trips to Artsakh. However, as our sources revealed, she even took her sons out of Armenia, not to mention the relocation of herself and her family to Artsakh.

Our sources assert that Tandilyan's actions relate to her desire to free her sons from military service, which perhaps has been accomplished. Born in the Alaverdi region, Mané Tandilyan wishes to become the Mayor of Yerevan while not wanting to call her own children to serve in the Armenian army, casting doubt on the sincerity and validity of both her and her party leader's promises.

In our times, it is common to tout patriotism around Artsakh with fiery words and Facebook calls. However, as often happens when examining the past of those making grand declarations, we encounter a typical form of populism.

By the way, we found out that another active member of Ruben Vardanyan's team, former Minister Mesrop Arakelyan, who is involved in the party's PR, has also not served in the RA Armed Forces, yet this does not prevent him from posting statuses on serving the country in every way.

We urge the RA Prosecutor General's Office and the Ministry of Defense to pursue issues regarding the conscription and military service of the sons of Armenian political figures. The defense of the homeland should involve the children of all citizens, and the people have the right to be aware of certain details of the lives of those who promise to serve, to understand whether these people are ready to give everything for the country or are merely ordinary populists.
