Earthquake in Iran Felt in Yerevan and Regions
On January 28, 2023, at 22:14 local time (18:14 GMT), the Seismic Protection Territorial Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia recorded an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9, located 34 km southeast of the city of Khoy in Iran, at geographic coordinates 38.33° N latitude and 45.24° E longitude, with a depth of 10 km. The intensity of the seismic tremor in the epicentral zone reached 8 points.
The earthquake was felt with a magnitude of 5 in the Syunik region, and 3-4 points in the Vayots Dzor, Ararat regions, and the city of Yerevan, while in the Armavir and Kotayk regions it was felt with an intensity of 2-3 points.
