Georgian Actor and Singer Vakhtang Kikabidze Passes Away

Vakhtang Kikabidze, a renowned Georgian actor, singer, screenwriter, producer, and composer, has passed away at the age of 84. Notably, he was a People’s Artist of the Georgian SSR and a recipient of the State Prize of the USSR. Reports indicate that he had been suffering from a grave illness in recent times.

One of Kikabidze's most memorable roles was that of Valiko Mizindari in Georgy Danelia's film “Mimino,” which was released in 1978 and won the State Prize of the USSR.

He was also known for performing several famous songs such as “Chito Grito” and “My Years Are My Wealth.”

Vakhtang Kikabidze had a long-standing connection with Armenians and Armenia. From a young age, he understood and spoke some Armenian, as he had many Armenian friends in his neighborhood.

It is worth mentioning that one of his close Armenian friends was actor Mher Mkrtchyan, whom he met during the filming of “Do Not Worry.”
