France Prohibits Turkey from Selling SOM Cruise Missiles to Azerbaijan
France has prohibited Turkey from selling SOM cruise missiles to Azerbaijan. Paris retains the right to block supplies since the missile engines are manufactured in France. This was reported by the Re:public of Artsakh channel.
The deal, which was struck several years ago, has yet to materialize, even though Azerbaijan's MiG-29 fighters have already been modified and adapted for the SOM missiles.
It is worth noting that the Turkish company Kale Arge has developed jet engines compatible with the SOM missiles and will soon begin supplying them to Roketsan for use in Kyrgyzstan's SOM missile systems.
Azerbaijan has placed over 400 official orders for the SOM missiles.
