Brazilian President Rushed to Hospital
Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro was admitted to a private clinic in São Paulo on Monday due to abdominal pain. This was reported by the president's press service, as cited by TASS.
“President Jair Bolsonaro was transferred to the Vila Nova Star clinic in São Paulo on Monday night for an examination related to discomfort in the abdominal cavity,” the statement read. It was noted that the head of state is in stable condition, and additional details about his health will be provided by the medical facility, reported the president's office.
The clinic where the president is being treated has stated that President Bolsonaro is in a stable condition. “He is stable, receiving treatment, and his health condition will be re-evaluated this morning by the team of doctor Antonio Luis de Vasconcelos Macedo. The discharge prospects at this time are unknown,” the doctors reported. They confirmed that the head of state is suffering from intestinal obstruction.
According to Bungie News radio station, this is a new case of intestinal obstruction. The politician had previously been hospitalized in July 2021 for a similar issue and was discharged after a course of conservative treatment. As the radio clarifies, Doctor Bolsonaro was forced to interrupt his holiday in the Bahamas and is awaiting the arrival of a special plane to take him to São Paulo. Since mid-December, the politician had been vacationing in the southern state of Santa Catarina.
In early September 2018, Bolsonaro, who was then a presidential candidate, was stabbed while meeting with voters in southeastern Brazil. Police apprehended 40-year-old unemployed Adélio Bispo de Oliveira at the scene, who confessed to the crime. He stated that he carried out the attack for personal reasons that the police would not understand. The politician spent more than three weeks in the hospital and underwent four surgeries in total.
