All Microbuses Will Be Decommissioned by Year-End: Marutyan
Approximately 250 microbuses, which have been in operation for over 15 years, will be removed from the routes within the next 3-6 months, and all microbuses will be decommissioned by the end of the year. This announcement was made by Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan during a council meeting, reminding that the government has decided not to extend their operational period any further.
The mayor stated that the microbuses will be replaced with new compact-class buses. He revealed that a tender has been held for the supply of 100 such microbuses, with the procurement currently underway and expected to be completed by the end of March.
Marutyan mentioned that there is an ongoing tender for the acquisition of 161 buses measuring 8.5 meters, and in the coming days, another tender for 135 more 8.5-meter buses will be announced. Additionally, according to the mayor, a tender for 100 buses measuring 12 meters will also be announced soon.
