In the Future, They Will Announce That the Begging Grandmother Should Be Taxed Because She Is a Business Operator - Vardanyan
The member of the Yerevan City Council’s “Light” faction, Tehmine Vardanyan, made a post on her Facebook page titled “All the Luxury of the Authorities,” in which she stated:
“For a few days now, I have been thinking about what other measures the authorities should take to further complicate the living conditions that are already difficult in our reality. Since the ruling faction of the council approved a bill to tax individuals engaged in street vending, such as balloon, tissue, and pen sellers, I suggest bringing in two more similar bills. One would tax beggars, as they can be considered serious business operators according to government standards, and the other would tax street musicians and their audience. The law should also mandate that those giving money receive a cash receipt and have a license.
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if, in the not-too-distant future, the council discusses such bills, and the members of the ruling council announce from the podium that we should indeed be a country of laws, and yes, the begging grandmother should be taxed because she is a business operator and is actively engaged in significant activity by walking through the streets of Yerevan. All of this, of course, is very sad…”
