Azerbaijan's Concerns Are Understandable, as Appropriate Actions Will Be Taken: Davit Tonoyan

Considering the situation and today's regrettable loss after the July incidents, I would ask everyone to honor the memory of our serviceman for one minute.

This was stated by Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan during a question and answer session with the government at the National Assembly today, September 16.

“The Azerbaijani Armed Forces are carrying out fortification work to neutralize the superiority and advantage of our positions and our troops, which is why weapons of various calibers are being used. This situation has been ongoing for two weeks; we have shown informational restraint. Yesterday, the Azerbaijanis, having suffered casualties, reported this issue.

All information regarding these incidents has been provided to the co-chairs, and representatives of the OSCE Secretary General are informed about all of this. We have repeatedly warned that there are no mechanisms in place to mitigate the risks of inappropriate developments in this situation. Today we have a casualty; appropriate measures are being taken. The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan has expressed concerns and heightened vigilance. That concern is understandable for us because appropriate actions will be taken,” the minister said.
