Turkey Issues New Navtex for Chios Island
Turkey has issued a new Navtex (navigational telex) for the Aegean Sea island of Chios (Turkish name: Sakız). This was reported by Ermenihaber.
It is noted that the release of this Navtex is related to Greece's armament of the Aegean islands. The Turkish side claims that the armament of these islands 'contradicts' the provisions of the Lausanne Treaty.
The newly issued Navtex by Turkey will be valid until September 16. It is worth recalling that Navtex is an international warning regarding operations in a specific maritime area.
