Vardenis Court Building Blocked by Residents

The Vardenis court building is currently blocked by residents. This information has been reported by Armlur.am.

A group of residents from the town of Vardenis took this extreme measure following the latest court hearing regarding the attempted murder case from 2016 involving the only detained suspect, Vahagn Manukyan. The court refuses to release him on bail or through any other means.

Vahagn Manukyan is accused of firing at the guards of the Sotk gold mine, who left Armenia after 2016 and do not attend court hearings, despite being summoned as victims in the case. This situation leaves the only suspect in custody while the alleged victims are not present in the country and show no interest in the proceedings related to them, resulting in a deadlock for the judicial process.

It is still unclear how many years the trial could last. Therefore, the residents of Vardenis have blocked the court building to draw attention from the judicial and political leadership.

It should be noted that the detained Vahagn Manukyan is a father of two minor children.
