Turkey Transforms Nakhchivan into a Large Military Base
Turkey has turned Nakhchivan into a large military base. A military hospital with 398 beds has been constructed here, part of whose funding has come from Turkey. Turkey is pursuing a path that effectively positions Nakhchivan within its territory.
Military expert Karen Hovhannisyan wrote this on his Facebook page. He stated, “At any cost, Aliyev still tries to maintain the issue of Nakhchivan's belonging, but I believe that any government in Azerbaijan will succeed as long as there is a problem with the delimitation of the borders between Nakhchivan and the Republic of Armenia. It is beneficial for Azerbaijan to maintain a constant level of tension and sporadic firing in the Nakhchivan region, but not widespread conflict, as that could once again allow Turkey to become a player, and Azerbaijan might permanently lose Nakhchivan.”
