WHO Has Not Yet Indicated That These Are Cases of Covid-19 Reinfection, Says Health Ministry Spokesperson

Cases of reinfection by the coronavirus are currently under investigation worldwide, and the World Health Organization has not yet indicated that these are cases of reinfection, instead stating that they are still in the research phase. This was stated by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, Alina Nikoghosyan, in an interview with NEWS.am.

It is noteworthy that Auroranews previously reported that Arsen Harutyunyan, a student at Yerevan State Medical University, wrote on his Facebook page that he was reinfected with the coronavirus 40 days after recovering. He noted, 'Reinfection does exist. About 40 days after my previous infection, I was diagnosed with Covid-19 again, this time with bilateral infiltrative pneumonia,' and urged those who had contact with him in recent days to self-isolate.

The Ministry of Health did not provide any information regarding this case, citing that they do not disclose information on personal cases. Alina Nikoghosyan stated, 'As for the double cases, this is under investigation worldwide, and the World Health Organization has not yet indicated that these are cases of reinfection, but rather that they are in the research phase. When the final results are available, we will also provide our suspected cases for study, and our epidemiologists are investigating. If it turns out that these are indeed cases of reinfection, we will announce that.'

When asked how many suspected cases have been recorded, Alina Nikoghosyan was unable to provide a number.
