While Workers Will Lay in Hospital Beds, Erdogan Will Continue to Enjoy in His Palace: Paylan

The Armenian MP from Turkey's pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) for Diyarbakır, Karo Paylan, has commented on the real picture of the coronavirus in Turkey, illustrated by a photograph of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and workers. This photograph has sparked widespread discussion on social media and among Turkish political figures.

It should be noted that within the framework of measures against the coronavirus, three hospitals are being built in Istanbul, one of which is located in the territory of Atatürk Airport. To get acquainted with the progress of the work, Erdogan visited the construction site.

As seen in the photograph, Erdogan waved to the workers gathered on the other side of a barrier, most of whom did not maintain social distancing or wear necessary protective measures against the pandemic. Meanwhile, Erdogan stood on the opposite side of the dividing line to keep his distance from them.

Karo Paylan described this photograph on his official Twitter account as a display of heartlessness by Erdogan. “Hundreds of workers are stacked next to each other. Erdogan greets the workers from behind the barrier. While these workers will lay in the same hospital room tonight, Erdogan will continue to enjoy in his 1000-room palace,” Paylan wrote.
