Threats Made to Armenian Banks: 'Transfer Money or Blood Will Be Shed'
The newspaper 'Zhoghovurd' reports that several banks in Armenia have received threatening letters demanding the transfer of specific amounts of money. In particular, 'Zhoghovurd' learned that on February 17, Ardshinbank OJSC approached the National Security Service (NSS) and reported a crime.
Specifically, the bank presented information to the NSS that on February 12, an individual named Ali Mussan had sent a letter to the bank's official email. What did the letter state?
According to information obtained by 'Zhoghovurd', Ali Mussan, who claimed to represent the Caucasus United Vilayat, threatened that a suicide bomber had been dispatched to one of the bank's branches, and if the bank did not execute a transfer equivalent to 245 million 533 thousand 490 drams in the coming days, there would be a lot of bloodshed, and thereafter hunting would begin against their children.
'Zhoghovurd' attempted to clarify this information with the NSS, who confirmed the veracity of the report, indicating that a criminal case has been forwarded to the Investigative Committee of Armenia for further investigation.
