Please Ask All Spouses to Move One by One in This Situation: Deputy Chief of Police
The logic is to combat the pandemic. This was noted today, on March 28, by Armenia's Deputy Chief of Police Hayk Mhryan during a meeting with journalists, addressing the question of why more than two people are not allowed in passenger vehicles, while there are significantly more passengers in public transport, sitting much closer to each other, thus increasing the risk of infection.
“Of course, it increases the likelihood of spreading the infection, and that is why I reported to you that we have drawn up 48 administrative acts related to the transport of additional passengers in public transport,” he stated.
In response to the observation that according to these regulations, spouses cannot ride together in a taxi and must travel separately, Mhryan replied, “I would ask all spouses in this situation, if possible, to move one by one to ensure their safety and that of their children.”
The head of the Police Public Relations Department, Ashot Aharonyan, added, “The police are applying the existing rules, in this case, we are not interpreting the logic: there is a regulation, there is a law, and the police are obliged to enforce it.”
