Ozone Layer Recovery Due to Cessation of Chemical Use: DailyMail
The ozone hole above Antarctica is closing, impacting the changes brought about by winds in the Southern Hemisphere, reports DailyMail.
Researchers from the University of Colorado Boulder state that this is partly due to the ban on ozone-depleting substances (ODS) implemented in the 1980s. This alteration has affected rainfall patterns, causing severe droughts in countries like Australia.
The researchers demonstrated through computer models that the flow of winds to the south ceased when the ozone hole began to close.
