Citizens of Armenia Cannot Leave the Country by Land, Except for Freight Drivers: MFA
To enhance the effectiveness of measures aimed at preventing the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Government of Armenia has decided to declare a state of emergency in the Republic of Armenia from March 16 to April 14, 2020.
The entry of foreign nationals into Armenia is restricted for those arriving from countries or regions with a high epidemic risk of coronavirus, or who have visited such countries or regions at least 14 days prior to their arrival in Armenia. As of March 22, the list of such countries includes the United States of America, the Commonwealth of Australia, member states of the European Union (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany, Denmark, Estonia, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Latvia, Poland, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Hungary, Malta, Netherlands, Sweden, Czech Republic, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Finland, France), Switzerland, Norway, Turkey, China, Iran, South Korea, Israel, Japan, Great Britain, Canada, the Russian Federation, and Georgia. Please note that the above list is subject to change.
Citizens of the Republic of Armenia and their family members, as well as individuals legally residing in the Republic of Armenia, are allowed to enter the territory of the Republic of Armenia without restrictions.
However, citizens of Armenia will not be able to leave the country by land, with the exception of freight vehicle drivers. Upon arrival in Armenia, citizens and foreigners will undergo intensive inspection procedures at border crossing points, and if relevant symptoms are detected, the person or persons will be subject to hospitalization, isolation (self-isolation), and/or other restrictive measures.
Mandatory self-isolation or quarantine regimes in designated quarantine areas will be applied to those arriving from countries classified as high-risk zones for the coronavirus pandemic.
