The Governor of Lori, Andrey Ghukasyan, has denied reports claiming that there are a large number of individuals infected with the coronavirus in the village of Lernapat, located 15 kilometers from Vanadzor, and that residents' entry to Lernapat is restricted.

The governor, who also heads the regional headquarters for the prevention of the coronavirus, labeled as misinformation a statement made by one of the village residents on social media and urged people to rely solely on official news sources.

“To all those attempting to spread inaccurate, distorted, or false information, I remind you that in a state of emergency, such behavior is punishable,” the governor wrote, assuring that “the situation is being closely monitored throughout the entire region.”

The community leader of Lernapat, Saribek Abazyan, also addressed the villagers with the same appeal, asking them not to believe the false news circulating. “We inform you that there is only one confirmed case of infection in the Lernapat community, which is under medical supervision,” Abazyan noted, adding that the infected individual does not reside within the Lernapat community.

“Once again, I request that false information not be spread and that the population not be thrown into panic,” the community leader stated in his announcement.
