140 Armenian Citizens Stuck at Lars Border Crossing Transferred to Armenia, Tigran Avinyan

"Thanks to the negotiations carried out for several days with our partners from Russia and Georgia, and the goodwill of our partners, it was possible, as an exception, to facilitate the transfer to Armenia of about 140 Armenian citizens who had been stuck at the Upper Lars border crossing until March 20 at 20:00 through Georgian territory," wrote Tigran Avinyan, the Armenian Deputy Prime Minister and head of the State Emergency Service, on his Facebook page.

"I would like to thank the authorities of Georgia and Russia, the Armenian ambassador in Georgia, and the Armenian consul general in Rostov. I would like to emphasize that by the decision of the Georgian government, foreigners, including Armenian citizens, are prohibited from entering the territory of Georgia. To avoid such situations, we once again urge our citizens returning from Russia to Armenia to use exclusively air travel," Avinyan noted.
