No Information on the Infection Rate of Armenians Living in Italy, Zareh Sinanyan
In Italy and China, where the pandemic is centered, the Armenian communities are relatively small. However, in France, where there are also many infected individuals, we have a large community. This was stated today during a press conference by the Chief Commissioner on Diaspora Affairs, Zareh Sinanyan. He noted that we must be prepared for the fact that no country will be immune to this pandemic.
“Our office is in daily contact with the communities, individual members, and organizations. We have had one death related to this pandemic in Iran, an 85-year-old woman. The situation in the Netherlands is satisfactory, and we have no information on infections in Italy. The same situation exists in other European countries; we do not have specific information about infected Armenians. However, we maintain constant communication and will inform you should there be any updates,” he said.
Zareh Sinanyan also mentioned that they are receiving numerous calls and messages from Armenians living in various countries, with the main inquiries centered around coming to Armenia. “Every case is different from another; we try to provide comprehensive information and find solutions. There are many inquiries, especially from Russia, as people wish to come to Armenia by land. However, we explain that this is currently impossible,” he noted.
