Around 2 Million Traffic Safety Violations Recorded in 2019

During parliamentary hearings on the topic of "Current Issues of Traffic Safety and Their Solutions," the head of the Armenian Road Police, Egor Karapetyan, announced that a total of 1,959,170 decisions were made regarding traffic safety violations in 2019.

"In cases of violations detected by technical means, 298,645 individuals were warned, and 4,803 decisions were made for driving under the influence. A total of 14,807 vehicles were transferred to protected areas, of which 9,405 were in Yerevan," said Egor Karapetyan.

By the end of 2019, 147 intersections in Yerevan were monitored by video cameras, and 169 speed cameras were operating on interstate, republican, and local significance roads, with 90 of them located in Yerevan.

"A total of 473 individuals who received driver’s licenses were registered in psychiatric and drug treatment facilities, and their licenses have been declared invalid," the head of the Road Police stated.
