‘Artsakh is Armenia and that’s final’: Nikol Pashinyan’s statement receives wide response in Azerbaijan
The speech of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the Renaissance Square in Stepanakert on August 5 has received a wide response in Azerbaijan. Initially, the Azerbaijani presidential administration reacted to the statement ‘Artsakh is Armenia and that’s final,’ made by Pashinyan during his speech.
“We categorically reject the statement ‘Karabakh is Armenia’ made by the Prime Minister of Armenia,” said Hikmet Hajiyev, head of the foreign policy department of the Azerbaijani presidential administration. “Azerbaijan and its people will never allow attempts to connect Nagorno-Karabakh with Armenia and violate our country’s territorial integrity. Let no one doubt that Azerbaijan will ensure its territorial integrity and sovereignty within internationally recognized borders and will secure the return of its ethnic displaced citizens to their homeland,” he added.
Azerbaijani media have reported that dangerous events are maturing in the region. The points raised by Pashinyan are an attempt to delay and undermine the peace process, they noted.
