Love Letters of Charles Aznavour to Be Auctioned
On June 28, a collection of love letters written by Charles Aznavour to a girl named Claude Messia will be auctioned in France, reports Le Figaro.
It is noted that the chansonnier penned letters to the 20-year-old girl for around six years, having met her in 1958 and falling in love with her. At that time, Aznavour was 34 years old and already famous for his romantic songs.
The letters reflect some of his best lyrical works about love. In total, 42 handwritten letters, 9 postcards, and 9 telegrams have been preserved, with the estimated value of the approximately 118 handwritten items ranging between $30,000 and $40,000.
