Cadastre Committee Head Does Not Exclude Publication of Large Property Values and Owners

During the discussion of the draft law on amendments and additions to the RA law on "State Registration of Rights to Property" and the accompanying package of projects in the Permanent Committee on Economic Affairs of the National Assembly, committee chairman Babken Tunyan asked the head of the Real Estate Cadastre Committee, Sarhat Petrosyan, whether it would be possible in the near future to have information publicly available regarding any property owner.

"If, in principle, this information is already available on a paid basis based on inquiries from individual persons, and you do not exclude that an online system may be available in the near future, do you think it is appropriate to have a list of large properties like the list of large taxpayers?", he asked, suggesting that they could publish, for example, a list of the 500 most expensive real estate properties.

Sarhat Petrosyan indicated that he does not exclude this possibility. "I think we will reach that day eventually, but the logic of information openness at this moment does not relate to the individual, but rather to the property. That is to say, if we see an anti-corruption element here regarding what properties past, present, or future officials own, we have not provided that information because it is considered personal data as a whole, but any information regarding properties has been made available on a paid basis," he stated.
