The Prime Minister Should Be 'Zloy', While the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Should Be 'Dobry': Ashotyan
Statements issued by Prime Minister Pashinyan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs complement each other; however, the distribution of roles is incorrect—the Prime Minister's statement was toothless, while the Ministry's statement was substantive. This was stated to NEWS.am by the Vice President of the Republican Party of Armenia, Armen Ashotyan.
According to him, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' statement discussed the national self-determination of the people of Artsakh as one of the most important sources for resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. It also referred to the implementation of agreements made in Vienna, St. Petersburg, and Geneva, while the Prime Minister's statement lacked substance and resembled a PR stunt.
“The distribution of roles between the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was wrong; as a rule, country leaders tend to be harsher, while foreign ministries try to capitalize on that harshness. In our case, it's the opposite—the Ministry's statement was harsher, while the Prime Minister's was evasive,” said Ashotyan, adding that the Prime Minister should not be the 'good cop,' while the Ministry is the 'bad cop.' The Ministry, with its statement, set a higher threshold.
“Today, the Prime Minister made a more benevolent statement regarding the Artsakh issue, while the Ministry was more malevolent. It should have been the other way around. The Prime Minister should be 'zloy,' and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should be 'dobry,'” stated the Vice President of the Republican Party.
