Ukrainian Judges Demand Criminal Case Against Poroshenko

Ukrainian judges from the Kyiv District Administrative Court are calling for the initiation of an impeachment process against current President Petro Poroshenko and the filing of a criminal case against him. This was stated in a press release from the court, according to Lenta.

The panel of judges believes that Poroshenko's statements following the announcement of the decision to recognize the illegal nationalization of 'PrivatBank' exert pressure on the judicial system. They have requested the State Bureau of Investigation to launch criminal cases against Poroshenko, Justice Minister Pavlo Petrenko, and Yakiv Smolii, the head of the National Bank of Ukraine.

It is worth noting that on April 18, the Kyiv District Administrative Court deemed the nationalization of 'PrivatBank,' owned by businessman Ihor Kolomoiskyi, to be illegal. The financial institution was nationalized in 2016 due to a complex financial situation it faced.

Following the court's announcement, Petro Poroshenko convened a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, during which he appealed to the Security Service and the Prosecutor General’s Office, requesting the initiation of criminal cases against the panel of judges who handled the case.
