Artak Zeynalyan's Application Causes Major Scandal

According to the newspaper 'Zhoghovurd', a serious scandal is brewing in the judicial system. The daily has reported that Armenian Minister of Justice Artak Zeynalyan has decided to submit an application to the Supreme Judicial Council seeking disciplinary accountability for 11 judges of the RA Supreme Court.

Now the Supreme Judicial Council must make an appropriate decision. According to information received by 'Zhoghovurd', judges from the civil chamber of the Supreme Court have also discussed their options for self-defense.

Specifically, judges Karine Petrosyan and Alexei Sukoyan have appealed to the Supreme Court regarding the termination of the powers of the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Gagik Harutyunyan; however, this application has not yet been accepted for consideration.

Moreover, according to our sources, judges from the civil chamber have said in an internal conversation that if the Supreme Judicial Council calls them to disciplinary accountability, they will also support the judges’ application and make a decision to terminate Gagik Harutyunyan’s powers.
