The State Audit Office Has Functions That Can Crush Many Feet, of Course, Within the Framework of the Law: Sanasaryan

During a briefing with journalists, the head of the State Audit Office, David Sanasaryan, responded to questions regarding his involvement as a suspect in a criminal case related to employees of the State Audit Office.

“I cannot speak about the details of the criminal case, as I have such an obligation. However, this does not imply that there should be any leak of information, and I cannot provide relevant information to prevent any stain on my good reputation. This has been earned through decades of struggle, through the result of living principled and honest lives, and no investigation body, no matter who it is or what testimony is given, can tarnish that. Naturally, I do not agree with this, and it will be disputed through the appropriate legal channels,” said David Sanasaryan.

He urged all questions regarding his status in the criminal case to be directed to the National Security Service.

“I have been interrogated, confronted, and I have stated what I know. One thing I can say clearly is that no one, no institution can connect me with any corrupt phenomenon because I fundamentally reject any corrupt phenomenon. Especially for those who mock, I will fight against corruption even if I’m in a grave,” said Sanasaryan.

In response to a remark about who he is obstructing and what the purpose of this process is, the head of the State Audit Office replied: “I cannot say who I am obstructing, but I understand one thing: the topics being raised in various circles. They are trying to create a situation where, emotionally moved, I should come out against the Prime Minister of the country. This cannot happen; I trust the Prime Minister of the country; that is why I am here. It cannot be that the Prime Minister orders political persecution against me; I exclude that,” Sanasaryan added.

“The State Audit Office has functions that can crush many feet, of course, within the framework of the law. In this case, many would not want a principled, clean person involved in any deals,” he stated.
